Publication of the eWBL Framework: Accessible for Download!
We are thrilled to announce the release of the eWBL (electronic work-based learning) Framework, available for download in both its original report format targeting practitioners and a version tailored for the academic audience, published as an open-source article in the "Studies in Higher Education" journal.
This milestone achievement stems from our Erasmus+ project, eWBL, dedicated to providing comprehensive guidance on delivering effective work-based learning experiences for students in online or hybrid formats.
Jointly led by our partners the University of Groningen and the University of Ljubljana, the eWBL framework constitutes the second work package of our project, building upon a thorough needs analysis conducted in the initial work package through interviews with 86 key stakeholders from higher education institutions, companies, and students. The framework combines insights from these interviews with an extensive literature review and expert feedback.
The primary target audience for the framework is work-based learning (WBL) trainers in HEIs and in companies who are currently or will (inevitably) face challenges associated with transitioning several internship positions from face-to-face to virtual settings.
The eWBL framework is structured in to five key phases of the eWBL design and implementation process with quality assurance as a continuous cross-cutting dimension.
-
Design Phase: This initial stage involves crucial decisions about the nature, structure, and timing of the work-based learning program, considering necessary adaptations and modifications for an online context.
-
Preparation Phase: The second phase focuses on skill realignment, recruitment and application, and training of students, higher education, and company staff.
-
Onboarding Phase: This phase introduces the aims of eWBL, along with content, workflow, team members, and other practicalities.
-
Delivery Phase: The fourth phase focuses on task briefing, task monitoring, networking, and socialization, emphasizing their critical roles.
-
Assessment and Evaluation Phase: The final phase concludes the eWBL implementation, ensuring a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of the entire process.
Additionally, quality assurance is embedded as a cross-cutting activity throughout all phases of the framework, ensuring the highest standards at every step.
This comprehensive eWBL Framework is a valuable resource for navigating the challenges and intricacies of transitioning work-based learning experiences to virtual or hybrid settings.
